FLOSSING FUN
Gum disease doesn't affect only adults. A recent study found that 39 percent of children in the United States have some form of periodontal disease. "Once a child can tie his shoes, he should be flossing on a daily basis, too," says Ned Savide, D.D.S., attending pediatric dentist at Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. "Flossing is the best way to get between teeth; brushing cleans only the tooth surfaces."
